Overwhelming Evidence to Gov. Lynch for Gambling Expansion in NH

Posted on January 29, 2008 - Filed Under NEWS

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch recently announced to the public radio that no to gambling expansion at a moment. Many legislators reacted on his statement the he would not support pro-gambling legislation unless they have overwhelming evidence presented to him.

Several groups believe that New Hampshire can easily follow the footsteps of other states around the country operating online casinos and other casino games if the governor legalized the expansion of gambling in the entire area. It can generate millions of dollars from different casino operators that will add the country’s revenue. The casino-style gambling will perfectly fit to help the current status of the North Country but it is still not the best option for the governor to consider.

The Governor on his repeated statement wants to see more convincing evidence before he will truly consider and approve this plan.

Local lawmakers in Seabrook and Salem, New Hampshire expressed their sides about the issue with frustrations. This gambling legislation is the only way to restore Seabrook’s Yankee Greyhound Park and Salem’s Rockingham Park horse racing track. The Nevada group wants to buy these two tracks but there is an agreement between the two parties: the group is allowed to bring 3,000 slot machines on the site and the thoroughbred racing back to Rockingham.

“Gov. Lynch is the main key for the approval of the legislation.”

The Governor is highly concerned on his subordinates on this gambling expansion. It brings negative effect to the people of New Hampshire. Talking of money, this expanded gambling should not incorporate with the declining revenue of the state.

According to the study conducted by Millennium Gaming Inc. the state is facing a deficit of about $50 million, the expanded gambling will be the hope that could generate approximately $150 million revenue every year.

If the governor is absolutely convinced by some impressive proofs of this legislation, there’s no doubt to approve and support it. It could benefit people’s quality of living.
