The victim is Mohamed Ali Ibrahim, aged 24, according to Stony Plain RCMP. His body was found last Saturday outside the River Cree casino, counted among the top casinos in the area. A woman, 20 years old, has also been found injured there.

The lady admitted to the hospital, is now under stable condition. The witnesses to the incident have said that Ibrahim was shot right in the back portion of his head. The police have not been able to identify the actual reason behind the death.

Michael Heep, the General Manager of the resort and casino, said that the casino has cameras everywhere. There are also many of them at the entrance. Assistance is being provided to the police by making the cameras available to them.

Heep said that a quarrel started of inside the casino’s lounge Touch Ultra, at around 1:26 am. As soon as the police arrived there, they found that the body of a person was lying outside the entrance area.

It has been reported by Michael Heep that some problems were still there with the lounge, and they thought of changing matters soon to do away with them. He further said that it was attracting many young clients than they actually wanted.

The lounge initially targeted people who were in their 30s-40s. However, Heep found that people in Edmonton belonging to that age group were usually busy with families and homes. So it started to draw people in their ‘20s.

There were plans to draw an older crowd by introducing a ’70s cover-band lounge’. When the incident occurred, the suspect went out of the casino to the vehicle in the parking space, and came back again when the incident occurred.

Touch has been described as a place where fights often take place by the casino’s patrons. There is enough security inside the casino where the patrons are checked with wands for the presence of guns and knives with them, Heep said.

Stony Plain RCMP Const. Barb Roy failed to make out whether the person shot dead was at all involved in the quarrel, or was just a non-participant spectator. She also could not make out whether the injured lady was with him or not.
