John Taylor, chief executive of GameLogic has plans, for bringing gamers to physical casinos. To achieve this end, Taylor is planning a flanking attack on gaming sites by rebranding casinos’ websites.
Gaming websites are big online traffic-pullers and companies like Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. are having major shares of the gaming pie; whereas, casinos, despite being major players in the gaming business, have failed to make their websites a craze among online gamers.
In Taylor’s opinion, “A lot of [casinos] have really used their websites more as electronic billboards, or to maybe take hotel reservations. They’re one of the last industries left that hasn’t fully embraced the Net.”
It is the highly regulated nature of the casino industry that companies are always reluctant in adopting new technologies. But, as the economy is clouded and companies are unable to patch the leakage in their revenue streams, they are looking everywhere for help and the thought of going online is but inevitable.
Taylor’s strategy is to pull gamers from various gaming sites to casinos’ gambling rooms, traversing the intermediate step of playing various casino games on casinos’ websites.
PlayAway; a web-based gaming service, designed to pull gamblers from websites to physical casinos; is the key component of its owner, GameLogic’s game plan.
