The officials of Butler National Service Corp. and Ford County have declared their plans of developing Boot Hill Casino and Resort in the city of Dodge. After the withdrawal of two developers from the four-casino agenda of the state, the officials made this declaration.
Clark Stewart, who happens to be the president of Butler National Service Corp. have confirmed his plans as has been said by Sally Lunsford, spokeswoman of Kansas Lottery. According to Sally there are so far no plans from the Butler National Service Corp.’s side to withdraw their plan of building the casino.
According to a 2007 law of Kansas, there will be one state-owned gambling and casino in all the four regions. The right to hold the contract and own gambling will be had by the Kansas Lottery. Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. walked out saying that they need more funds to create a casino in the south-central region.
Penn National withdrew their plans saying that the nearby Indian casino complex in Oklahoma is posing a major challenge to building a casino southeast region. These projects have been decided to be bid once again. The counties of Ford and Wyandotte are the only two zones having active projects.
Although people are a bit doubtful about the completion of the Dodge City project, but Stewart has assured that their plans are moving forward. The proposed casino named Boot Hill Casino and Resort has been planned to be constructed at the west of downtown Dodge City.
Mayor Kent Smoll of Dodge City is very confident that Butler National Service Corp. would surely keep up the spirit of this casino project. Stewart has said that they have already spoken to a few people about their plan. Those who are interested are free to speak.
It is expected that the proposed casino will start off in December and the entire casino and hotel will be completed by the next two years. The immediate move of Butler National Service Corp. is to make a background check pass that is presently under operation by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission.
President of Boot Hill Gaming, Jeff Thorpe has said that the withdrawal of the southeast and south-central casino zones will be basically proving beneficial for the Dodge City casino.
