  Gambling Limits Raised in UK

There is good news for gamblers all over the world. Now they will able to bet and win twice as much on slot machines in nightclubs, pubs and gambling houses under the new rules implemented by the government  in UK.

Under the relaxation of rules, the machine’s maximum payout has been raised from £35 to £70. The users will be able to stake £1 instead of 50p. This new rule has been reportedly authorized by Andy Burnham, the Culture Secretary.

Mr. Burnham said , he agreed to the increases because the operators of the casino games are finding it difficult to stick to the age-old trading conditions in the present economic conditions.

The implementation of the new law will boost up the revenue from the machines by 20 percent and  increase the VAT to £27million-a-year. The gaming industry has been asking government to relax the laws on gambling. Now, that their request was granted.

For the time being, the government has agreed to consider a £10 rise in the highest prize and a 10p raise in the maximum stake. But according to the industry figures, this is not enough to strengthen the gaming industry at the time of economic crisis.

Since the year 2005, the manufacture of machines has fallen by 55 percent.  Even the revenue  earned in arcade has gone down by 21 percent since June 2007. As Britain goes through an economic crisis, some observers have warned a move to relax gambling laws.

For the  time being, the gamblers are relaxed now.Generally between 80 to 90 percent of the money used for betting by the players is given out in prizes. But in Britain, this margin was kept to 7 percent. Now, the biggest challenge is to implement the present law protecting the rights of the gaming industry.

Now, the prizes of the slot machines have doubled as the government relaxed the laws. The government has to do something  if the economy does not move. For the second time in two years, the gambling limits have been raised in slot parlors and clubs.
