Seems that residents of the United States will face a prohibition that can be compared to the dry law of the 1950s, this time it’s regarding internet gaming sites and the collection of the gains.

Cindy Skrzycki in her Washington Post column presents a very grim future towards a final ruling regarding the total banning or a more tight watch over internet gaming sites and their interaction with US banks and account holders.

In her article, however, Mr. Frank Fahrenkopf Jr., who is currently the president and chief executive of the American Gaming Association, seems quite careless since the US citizens have a history of disobeying any prohibitions they consider ridicule. Read the rest of this entry »

Ohio State Offer Video Keno to Solve Budget Deficit

January 31st, 2008

One of the major problems that the Ohio government is facing today is the budget deficit of the country. Ohio Governor, Ted Strickland, has come up with an excellent idea for the welfare of every citizen. It seems that he found the golden key to solve the problem of the state. His plan is to expand the lottery system in the entire state including video Keno.

The Governor take a firm stands that this form of online gambling will be different from other legalized casinos. Once it operates, it will be properly monitored and regulated by the government.

Playing Keno is more similar to lotto game, very simple and offers large prizes for a small bets. It depends on the person playing the game and their purpose in playing the game. Keno is a simple game that is very easy to establish to become online casinos. Video keno offers a much higher return than live keno, and also a much faster pace.

Most states are engaging to casino gambling as a way to help its unstable current budget deficit, however, they are only on slot machines and poker tables.

The governor does not fully understand the consequences brought about by casino gambling, when it was legalized by the state they are strictly regulated. This is one of the reasons why the states decide first in legalizing each casino gambling.

The planned video Keno machines in Ohio will be place only to restricted places where minors are not allowed. This will be generating approximately $73 million revenue on this Keno game. The Governor also announced extensive cuts as many as 2,000 jobs in the entire state.

Dutch Monopolistic Online Gambling

January 30th, 2008

The Netherlands’ government is pursuing any possible ways to limit online gambling and having more advertising to run gambling in the entire state. It seems that the country is in collision with the European Union.

They are doing their best to follow the footsteps of the United States by increasing their efforts towards online gambling by making it illegal to process bank transactions and other credit card companies from Dutch citizens to any foreign gambling operators.

Addiction is the main issue of the government for having an online gambling prohibition in the country. According to De Volkskrant, The Hague has no European Union laws about gambling and only the Netherlands have rights to contradict the laws to prevent criminal activity and gambling addiction.

The EU internal market commissioner, Charlie McCreevy, points out that the actions of the Dutch in preventing foreign access to online gambling is creating a monopolize gaming industry to the nation. He also stressed out by having a monopolistic gambling led to a questionable answer in addiction. There is no sufficient proof that the gambling crime was reduced.

McCreevy highly believes that the country is pursuing its monopolistic gambling expansion. Like in the case of these two commercial gambling venues in the Netherlands, the state-owned De Lotto and Holland Casino.

The Dutch higher court allowed Holland Casino, a land based casino operator owned by the Dutch government to extend online casino gaming in the area. This kind of online gambling is accessible only to all Holland citizens and not applicable to play via online through foreign gambling manipulators.

The European Commission made criticism to the Dutch enforced gambling laws. They wanted that the online gambling will be covered by the organization’s open market policy that could access to foreign gambling operators. Many foreign companies are trying to put up casinos in the Ducth country but all of their licenses have been denied by the government.
